mĀori economy has a lot to contribute

With less than a month to go momentum for the Te Hekenga III conference is building. There are some clouds on the horizon however which may or may not have silver linings. One example is the fact that more than a week since the election we still don’t know the shape of our new government and what policies they might be bringing which could possibly assist or hinder the development of Maori business. We took the liberty of reserving speaking slots for relevant Ministers of the Crown but as with policies we don’t know yet who the new Minister might be. However the rest of our speaking line up is settled and what an interesting group of people they are.

The silver lining that we are certain of is that he Maori economy is a significant and growing contributor to the total New Zealand economy.  An excerpt from http://taongalink.co.nz/2017/03 notes that Māori businesses are diversifying, with increasing investment, ownership, and business development by Maori in the tourism and hospitality, telecommunications and energy, dairying, wine, and horticulture industries.

Statistics from He Mauri Ohooho also paints a very positive picture of the growth of the Bay of Plenty Region.
